The award winning Smart Business Resource Center provides workforce services in Shasta and Trinity Counties. Company headquarters are located at 1201 Placer Street in Redding, California.
As a private, non-profit, public benefit corporation created to promote and foster employment opportunities, Smart receives funding from the U.S. Department of Labor and the State of California. In addition, Smart contracts with local entities to provide workforce services and offers a variety of fee-based services.
Quality Services
Over the past three decades, we've invested more than $40 million dollars in local businesses, through hiring and training services. As an employment service, we strive to match our job seekers' skills to our business customers' needs. We have immediate access to a labor pool of over 1,000 candidates, with job seekers of all ages, experience and skill levels. Smart offers a full range of hiring services including job recruitment, application pre-screening, testing and placement. And we can help with employee training costs, a benefit to both the business and its employees.

We have placed more than 35,000 people in local businesses and have worked with over 6,000 individual businesses of all sizes representing virtually all area industries. Smart has a thirty-year proven track record of quality services and a staff of 31 dedicated professionals.
Best in Shasta
Along the way, we discovered great things happening in local companies, large and small. From that discovery, Best Companies to Work For in Shasta County was born and the first awards were presented in 2007.
Since establishing this effort, we've identified many examples of great work environments, cost effective hiring, employee training opportunities and exemplary customer service. We hope to be the catalyst in sharing these examples and helping every company become the best they can be.

The Smart Center is governed by the Northern Rural Training and Employment Consortium (NoRTEC) Workforce Investment Board.
In recognition of Smart’s Business Services, NoRTEC was honored as the 2006 Grand Winner of the Theodore E. Small Workforce Partnership Award by the National Association of Workforce Boards (NAWB) in Washington, D.C. The award represents the highest recognition of workforce investment boards around the nation that advance innovative partnerships with their business communities.
